Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

If u want pizza , burger , soup or salad then it's here but that's what's everywhere. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great, the price is about as average as every where else the menu was pretty lame :(

Tamales are amazing. Staff is super friendly. I love the pizza. I have been 4x in the last month to try something new and I have not been let down yet.

Ehhhh, 3.5. Try the tamales they all say. So I got the cheese ones and shared them since I wasn't that hungry. It came with two moderately sized tamales with cheese sauce. The tamale itself was pretty soft and the cheese sauce on top had a hint of spice but it was nothing that impressed me.

My father has Celiac's disease and this is hands down his most trusted gluten-free friendly restaurant in Little Rock. It's easy, fast, delicious, and moderately priced. Very family friendly, and always a good choice.

I always have a nice experience at Izzy's. Friendly people and clean restaurant. My absolute favorite thing on the menu is the veggie tamale! So good!

Izzy's is one of my all time favorite places to eat! Super friendly wait staff and excellent food are a GREAT combination! I love their salmon Niçoise salad and their tortilla soup is one of a kind!

I really only like the veggie tamales there, but hey they kept me coming back over and over. It gets a strong 4 for that reason. I do like that they have a separate menu for vegans/vegetarians. Definitely recommend going by if you've never been.

Went to Izzy's with my husband for Fathers-day dinner and couldn't have been more disappointed. The menu was truly lacking in options...it was soups, sandwiches, pizza, or pasta. No steak and only one option of fish (salmon) and chicken (grilled). My husband ended up getting a burger because nothing else sounded good. I ended up settling for a chicken tortilla soup that tasted like progressive from a can. I'd call it a fail.

  • Eve L.

Wow but their vegetarian tamales are amazing. Tamales are hard to do well, and theirs are seriously some of the best. Well seasoned, and the masa is soft and holds together without being too dried out. I also had their whole wheat pesto pasta and it was fantastic. My spouse had their whole wheat pasta with meat sauce and was not disappointed.

So here's the thing - I used to live by Izzy's a few years ago. Back then I tried them a few times and I wasn't really impressed. It was alright... nothing special. With that said - I recently went and was pleasantly surprised. I'm pretty sure that they had a change in ownership. Either way, it was much better than my first few visits. I had classic spaghetti and meatballs which was fresh and full of flavor. My husband and friend had the tamales and chili - which were also very good. Another positive is that they now serve Vegan and Gluten free dishes - which means nothing to me, but is extremely important if you are into that. I'll definitely give Izzy's more chances to impress. Well done.

Izzy's is a staple for our household. We go there typically at least once a week. To be honest, there is nothing overly fantastic on the menu, but it is broad and everything is done well and fresh. There is no bagged lettuce for salads, and the tamales are fantastic. You can also buy them to go and stick them in the freezer to cook at home. We do that often as well. And my wife and child have to eat gluten free, and they are a local restaurant that gets that and accommodates well with a dedicated GF and vegetarian menu (maybe even vegan, but we don't go that far). The staff is awesome and accommodating. Definitely worth going to support a local owner and restaurant, and the menu will cover the different tastes of the whole family.

The basis for this review is that I've read other Yelpers compare Izzy's tamales to Doe's tamales. So I wanted to do my own comparison. The result is that they can't be compared. They really are two different tamale styles. Doe's is more greasy and meaty with a thin masa shell. While Izzy's is more of a traditional tamale with coarsely chopped meat and a thicker masa shell. In their menu, Izzy's tamale platter is described as two "BIG" tamales with chili on top for $9.95. The already-dehusked tamales are actually medium-ish with a scoop of chili on top. The platter, which is more of an appetizer, is definitely over-priced a buck or two to put it nicely. Also, the presentation of the platter with a corn husk on the bottom was annoying. It was messy pulling it out from under everything so I could eat the chili. Ok, ok. I also got a little bowl of cheese dip and some chips as part of the tamale platter. But I don't think chips and dip should be a part of a tamale platter. The tamales themselves are actually good enough to stand alone. Not "I'll-be-back-tomorrow" good. But maybe later in the month. The chili was chili. It was ok. I would order a bowl of it. Surprisingly, the cheese dip was tasty, without being too salty as most dips tend to be. Too bad the chips themselves suck. They are the typical salty, bagged-tasting, white corn variety. Some fresh, just -outta -the-grease chips would be perfect with their cheese dip. I also had the gaucamole dip, which wasn't as chunky as I would have liked. Also it was a bit on the salty side, which took away from that fresh taste you normally get from gaucamole dip. So I didn't devour it as I normally would. I'm still curious what their other food is like, so I'll be back.

The food was excellent, and the service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere was good for a date, but is relaxed enough for a group. I've been there three times now, and I think it's a winner. I've had the veggie melt and sweet potato fries twice, and I would probably get it again the next time I go. It's just a delicious sandwich. I've also had the quesadillas, which were good. My wife likes the nutty bird sandwich. I've tried the pizza as well, and it's good. Not as good as Damgoode Pies, Iriana's, or Gusano's, but then again it's also not a "pizza place." Izzy's is supposed to be known for their tamales. I would personally stick with anything else on the menu, but then again I'm not a huge tamale fan to begin with. So bottom line, it's worth a try.

I was looking for a restaurant that we could actually carry on a conversation so it needed to be both quiet and have a variety of food. Through reviews, we found Izzy's. Fresh food made from scratch, not noisy, and it offered a variety including pizza, tamales, salmon, soups, salads, sandwiches and milk shakes. My husband said the tomato-basil soup was the best he had ever eaten. I loved the tortilla soup although there was no crispy tortillas in it. The food was so plentiful that a milk shake divided by three of us as our desert was left unfinished although we all liked it. The waitress was excellent and we did not have to wait for refills on water or wait for the bills. It is a bit out of the way from North Little Rock but it was a beautiful day for a drive and we thought it was worth it. Especially since the irises were blooming and smelled heavenly.

To be honest, when I first heard about Izzy's I was told it was a Mexican/American restaurant. I have not had very good experiences with Mexican places - they are mostly all the same food, usually filthy, and you really don't know what you are eating. So, I was a little concerned about eating there. Well, I was either wrong or misinformed. The food was not really the type of Mexican I have had in the past, although I ordered something else. The place was not filthy either. The grilled chicken sandwich was great and the pizza was really good. I do have a few suggestions for improvement, though. - The waiters/waitresses could be a bit more attentive. - The sweet tea could be a bit sweeter and a bit fresher. It tasted like it was old or something. - They should serve baked potatoes (not microwaved) and potato salad. I don't really care for potato chips or fries. The funny thing is that Izzy's appears to be having an identity crisis. It looks like it can't decide whether it wants to be Mexican/American, have a theme of young/wild/cool, or a tea shop (they have several types of tea and doodads from China for sale). All things considered, I would go back and I would recommend giving Izzy's a try...

As a Gluten free girl, I like Izzy's. They have a good GF menu and will do what they can to help you feel certain about how they prepare the food. Loved the taco salad, and the tamales. Give it a try if you are GF.

Tried Izzy's with my family this weekend. It is one of my parent's favorite local places. Serving staff was attentive. Food came out fast. Cheese dip and chips was tasty. Our table had chicken burger, a couple of pizzas, a dinner salad, a salmon plate, and I tried the tortilla soup (meal size portion). Everyone seemed to enjoy the food. The salmon serving was quite large and tasty. The tortilla soup had big chuncks of chicken, but there was no fried tortilla in the soup (even though it mentioned fried tortilla on the menu). Instead I got a flour tortilla on the side. With that aside, the taste was authentic enough to remind me of Texas.

Izzy's is a Little Rock staple with decent, fresh food at reasonable prices, but what really sets them apart is their selection of loose leaf teas. Combine any of them with the casual atmosphere and you have a recipe for a relaxing afternoon or evening meal.

The food at Izzys is always so fresh and the wait staff is always friendly and helpful. I have eaten here a lot but today I tried something new. I got a bowl of tomato basil soup and it was creamy and delicious. My sister got the Isabella pizza and it's always lite and wonderful. My husband got the hamburger steak that was new for him and really in joyed his. You can't go wrong with this place the burgers are some of the best around and I love their grilled chicken. If they have strawberry shortcake when you go be sure to get it. They only use Arkansas strawberries so they unfortunately don't have it all the time. They ran out last night so I couldn't get one I was so disappointed because they are yummy.

  • Mi M.

Our friends took us here after a day out in Little Rock, partly because they are regulars and they like a particular waiter who knows he can't have salt on anything. I ordered a chicken spinach salad which was off menu, but the waiter said they'd make something yummy, which they did. The rest of the menu was nothing fancy, but they serve wine, so that's good enough for me!

One of my favorite places to eat anytime I am back in Little Rock! The nutty bird sandwich is incredible! The new chicken pizza has been my favorite thing on the menu since I was 14!! The cheese dip and tamales are of course a classic! There's no going wrong at Izzy's!

  • Matthew D.

I would rate this place a solid 3 stars, but the service was top notch! I enjoyed the beef tamales and the chili on top of them. I will say that I think a lot of the food comes from a can or frozen. All in all it was an ok time.

  • Charles D.

Good food here!! Had the Tamales with Chili and ok Velveta cheese dip. The best part was the hostess! She was 20 years old, maybe and had on a pair of short short bright pink shorts. This place needs a longer dress code for shorts.
